Mrs. Angelo Avon, 75, Dies Here Saturday

Mrs. Angelo Avon, 75, died at 9 0'clock Saturday morning at her home in Lovilia, after a long illness. She had been bedfast for the past three months and since 1934, when she underwent major surgery at the University hospital at Iowa City, she had been in poor health, confined to her home most of the time.

Mr. Avon's death occurred January 15th of this year.

Louise Paveglio was born November 11, 1871, a daughter of Giacanio and Madeline Paveglio, of Navarous, Di Udine, Italy.

She was married to Angelo Avon in 1902 and came to this country in 1904, joining her husband at Foster, Iowa, where he had established a home.

The Avon family lived in several coal mining camps in Wapello, Mahaska and Marion counties, before moving to Rex No. 5, southwest of here. They moved to Lovilia in 1924 and lived here since.

Mrs. Avon was a good neighbor and true friend, well-liked by all who knew her. She was loyal to her land of choice, and although one son gave his life for his country in World War II, and another son served in the army for many months, she was a loyal American and free of criticism of her country’s leaders.

Surviving are four sons, Jack, Pete, George and Albert of Lovilia. A son Bruno and a daughter, Irene, and Mr. Avon preceded her in death.

The body was at the Zimmerman funeral home here and was taken to St. Peter’s church Tuesday morning, where a requiem mass was said by the pastor, Rev. Charles D. Mannhardt, at 10 o'clock. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery in Ottumwa.
