Thursday, August 6, 1908ISAAC C. CAIN was born in Fountain County, Indiana, December 21, 1825 and
died July 30, 1908. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1841, was married
to ELIZABETH J. LEEPER in Monroe County in November, 1848. To this union
were born eight children, seven of whom are still living. Their names are
as follows: C.J. and A.L. and EMMA DILLMAN of Lucas County; REBECCA HARDY of Wyoming; N.F. and S.S. of Manor, Washington; M.M. of Portland, Oregon. GEORGE W. was killed by a horse in 1883. His wife preceded him to the better land June 2, 1888.He was among the first settlers of Lucas County, coming here and pre-empting
land in September, 1850. He formerly belonged to the Presbyterian Church.
He leaves five sons, two daughters, twenty-eight grandchildren and nineteen
great grandchildren, also two brothers and four sisters to mourn his
departure.The funeral was held at the English Church Saturday, August 1, 1908,
conducted by the Pastor, Rev. George Sloan, was attended by a large crowd.
The community extends their sympathies to the bereaved relatives.
