Raymond “Buster” Wolf

Raymond “Buster” Wolf, 82, of Albia, formerly of Melrose, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at Oakwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Albia. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose, Rev. Scott Lemaster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose with military rites provided by the American Legion in Melrose.

He was born Aug. 19, 1917 in Melrose to Joseph and Ann Ciska Wolf. He attended the Melrose school system. He served in the U.S. Army from July 2, 1943 to Oct. 8, 1945 in the medical service during the South Pacific Theater where he received a purple heart, two bronze stars and good conduct medals. After his military service he was a custodian for the Melrose Community Hall and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose.

He is survived by one niece, Diane Graham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Irene, Ann Josephine and Mary Wolf, and two brothers, Edward and Francis Wolf.

Visitation was open all day Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. The body will be moved at 4 p.m. to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose or Oakwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Albia.

Winfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
