Mary Scieszinski

Mary Scieszinski, 88, of Webster City, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rev. John Flaherty, celebrant. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.
Mary Lillian Donahue, daughter of James and Sara Barry Donahue, was born Dec. 8, 1915 in Melrose. She received her education at Dougherty and attended college at Ottumwa Heights and Mason City Junior College. She taught in rural schools in Cerro Gordo County for three years. On Nov. 3, 1937 she married Patrick Joseph Scieszinski at Dougherty. The couple resided at Dougherty and her husband was employed with the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad. In 1953 he was transferred to Webster City. She had worked as a clerk with J.D. Penney’s at Webster City for 15 years. She retired in 1977. Mr. Scieszinski died Nov. 3, 1989. She continued to reside at Webster City. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Heritage Hunters.
She is survived by one daughter, Sister Mary Louise P.B.V.M. of Humbolt; sons, Joseph Scieszinski of Webster City and James Scieszinski of Simi Valley, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two daughters in infancy, Margaret and Mary Scieszinski; one sister, Margaret Donahue; and one brother, James Donahue.
Foster Funeral Home in Webster City was in charge of arrangements.
