Berneice I. Whitlock, 81, 0f 520 A Ave. E died Oct. 23 at the Monroe County Hospital.
She was born in Monroe County on March 12, 1899, the daughter of George and Minnie Fletcher Sedgwick. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
On April 28, 1917, she married Elmer L. Whitlock. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Goldie Shelton of Des Moines and Helen Della Vedova of Albia; three sons, Elmer Jr. of Fairfield, Clyde of Galesburg, Ill., and Robert of Indianola, 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Smith, Marge Binge and June Sedgwick, all of Galesburg, Ill., and Cora Smith of Davenport; and three brothers, Edward and Donald, both of Galesburg, Ill., and John of Aurora, Ill.
The funeral was Saturday at First Christian Church with Donald Plum officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Corners Cemetery. Geyer Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church.
