Frew, Former Postmaster at Hiteman, Dies
Served 15 Years as Deputy Sheriff in Monroe County

Funeral Services Tuesday Morning At St. Mary's

William H. Frew, long prominent in public affairs of Monroe county, died at his home here Sunday after a lingering illness.

Mr. Frew was 74 years old.

He was 12 years postmaster at Hiteman, and served as deputy sheriff 15 years. He resigned the deputy sheriff post in March of this year because of ill health.

For many years he filled key positions in the Democratic party.

Funeral services, with the Rev. Lambert Heinen in charge, will be in St. Mary's church at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body was taken from Humeston Funeral home to the Frew residence, 222 AL. Ave. W., today.

Surviving Mr. Frew are his wife; two children, Mrs. Leo Coady, Albia, and J. Vincent Frew, Charlotte, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Mitchell, Dallas, Ia., and Mrs. John Smith, Hiteman; a brother, Robert Frew, Hiteman; and four grandchildren.

He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and came to the United States when nine years old. He lived in Michigan before coming to Iowa, and Monroe county had been his home for more than a half-century.

Mr. and Mrs. Frew recently observed their fifty-second wedding anniversary.
