MRS. JAMES MURPHY

After a long illness from heart trouble Mrs. James L. Murphy died at her home south of Melrose Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She had been very sick and her death was not unexpected. She had been cared for most tenderly by her family and all that could be done for her was done. She died as she had lived, a Christian fortified by all the rites of the Catholic church. Her death was most happy.

The deceased, Rose McCormick, was born in Scotland 78* years ago and came to this country when very young. She was married to James L. Murphy at Kewanee, Ill., in 1867. To this union were born one son, John L. Murphy, and six daughters: Mrs. Ed McGee, Mrs. Neil McGee of Perkins, Okla., Mrs. George Blugauh, Mrs. John Hawk, Mrs. M. Tierney, and Mrs. Vern Little. Many other relatives mourn the loss of this kind wife and mother. She had lived to see her fourth generation. All her family were at her funeral except Mrs. Neil McGee who could not be here in time. The funeral was held Monday morning from the home where she with her husband had lived for 48 years and where her family were born and raised. The funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church. Rev. Father Murphy of Ottumwa celebrated the requiem mass and pronounced the final absolution. Interment was made in Mt. Calvary cemetery. The pall bearers were A. Donahue, Patrick Murphy, J. P. Murphy, M. Carbin, R. Ward, James Curran. A large congregation of friends and neighbors attended the funeral.
