Tony Kauzlarich

Tony Kauzlarich, 94, of Rt. 2, was dead on arrival Thursday at Monroe County Hospital.

He was born in Yugoslavia on Jan. 13, 1883, the son of Gregory and Antonia Kauzlarich. He came to the United States at the age of 17 and lived most of his life in the Albia area. He was a coal miner and farmed south of Albia.

Kauzlarich was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He married Johanna Grubicich and she preceded him in death. He then married Ramona Bujan* on June 20, 1914, at St. Mary’s Church in Albia. She survives.

Also surviving are seven sons, Paul of Albia, Richard of Oskaloosa, Charles of Chicago, Ill., Joe of East Moline, Ill., John of Baltimore, Md., Emil of Knoxville, and Rudy of Colona, Ill., five daughters, Mary Sulentic and Frances Kipfer, both of Albia, Stephan Deal Of Bloomfield, Helen Woodward of Moline, Ill., and Gloria Crall of Moravia; 38 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three daughters and one son.

The funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Schwank officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

The rosary was Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Humeston Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church building fund.
