J. J. O'Brien Dies Sunday

James J. O'Brien, 85, prominent Monroe county farmer, died Sunday at his home five miles north of Melrose.

The body is at Humeston Funeral Home here, where the Rosary will be recited this evening. Solemn requiem high mass will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's church, Melrose, with the Rev. R. J. McGrath, the Rev. H. B. Geers and the Rev. Harry Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mr. O'Brien is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Matt Carmody of Melrose, six sons, Martin of Albia, Phillip and Vincent of Melrose, Pierce of Chicago, Ill., Francis of Des Moines and Michael of Davis, Cal., a brother, John O'Brien, Melrose, three sisters, Miss Alice O'Brien of Melrose, Miss Ellen Murphy of Chariton and Miss Mary O'Brien of Los Angeles, Cal., 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in April 1953.
