CENTERVILLE — Thelma Clark, 93, of Centerville, formerly of Albia, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.Thelma was born on Aug. 27, 1915, to William Wesley and Martha (Parry) Jones in Buxton, Iowa. Thelma was raised and attended grade school in Hiteman. Thelma then attended and graduated from Albia High School. Thelma married Wayne Clark on Jan. 15, 1941, in Albia. To this union two children were born, Alan and Raymond. Thelma was a house wife and worked in the kitchen at the Monroe County Hospital; she also worked at Kauzlarich Laundry Cleaners in Albia. Thelma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia. She loved anything to do with handwork like knitting, crocheting and baking. She also enjoyed time with her friends and family. Thelma is survived by her children, Alan Clark of Albia and Raymond Clark of Evansdale, Iowa; two grandchildren, Joshua and Adam Clark. Thelma is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Jones and Elizabeth Jones, both of Albia; and numerous nieces and nephews.Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha; her husband, Wayne; three brothers, Everett, Raymond and Earl Jones; and one sister, Leona Walker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Larry Bettis officiating. Burial will follow services at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in rural Monroe, Iowa. Following the burial there will be refreshments at Benton Place Apartments in Albia. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Thelma's family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening. A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.
