ALBIA — Virginia Mae (Smith) Miller, age 97, of Albia formally of Louisiana, Mo. died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at the Monroe County Care Center in Albia, Iowa.

Virginia was born on Aug. 16, 1910 in Louisiana, Mo. to Arthur Cecil and Ethel (Price) Smith.

Virginia graduated from Louisiana High School, class of 1927. She worked as a secretary for the Stark Brothers Nursery, retiring in 1975.

Virginia married Fredrick Truman Miller on Oct. 10, 1937. To this union two children were born, Jim and Dorothy. Truman died on Dec. 9, 1966.

Virginia was an active member of First Baptist Church in Louisiana, Mo. She was a member in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Virginia was also a member of the Business and Professional Women.

Virginia is survived by her son, Jim and wife, Sherry of Moravia; her five grandchildren, Kriston and Kevin Jurasek of Clive, Iowa, James C. and Jody Miller of Tubigen, Germany, Shawn Miller of Iowa City, Iowa, Kyle Casey of O’Fallen, Mo., Nancy and husband, Brian Garland of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Konner and Katelyn Jurasek, Isabelle and Alexandria Miller, Austin and Alex Faust.

Also surviving Virginia is one brother-in-law, Bill Casey of O’Fallen, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman Miller; one daughter, Dorothy Jean Casey; and one sister, Mildred Harness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at the Sterne Funeral Home in Louisiana, with Rev. Jimmy Spear officiating. Burial will follow services at Memorial Garden Cemetery of rural Louisiana.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m., until service time, Monday, Nov. 26th, at the Sterne Funeral Home. Virginia’s family will be present throughout the visitation.Winfield Funeral Home of Albia is helping with arrangements.
