The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, March 7, 1907A very pretty and impressive wedding occurred at the home of MR. and MRS. N
J. SWANSON, in Pleasant Township, on Wednesday evening, when their daughter
VICTORIA, was united in marriage to GEORGE WARREN, of Lovilia, in the
presence of about eighty invited guests. Promptly at 7 o'clock, to the
strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march, executed by her sisters, MAY and
EUGENIA, the bridal couple entered the parlor, attended by MR. and MRS. FRED
HAM, of Hopeville, where Rev. A.L. Bates, Pastor of the Methodist Church at
Columbia, spoke the words which made them man and wife. After
congratulations had been extended, the guests repaired to the dining room
where a sumptuous wedding feast awaited them. The young couple were
recipients of many useful and beautiful gifts. The bride was dressed in
white wool batiste, trimmed with all-over lace, and carried a bouquet of
white roses. She was raised in Pleasant Township and was one of Lucas
County's best teachers, having taught in the public schools for several
years. She is an accomplished musician, having finished a course of study
at the Simpson Conservatory of Music, at Indianola. The groom is a young
man of sterling worth and ability and is worthy the bride he has chosen.
They will immediately go to housekeeping at Lovilia.Among the guests present were Mrs. Rhoda Brown, of Osceola, Mr. and Mrs. S.M
Ridinger, of Hopeville, Mrs. Rebecca Green, of Fairfield, and A.L. Swanson,
of Albia. The Leader joins the many friends in best wishes for a long and
happy wedded life.
