John R. Price
Senator from the Fifteenth district, composed of the counties of Marion and Monroe, was born in Glamorganshire, South Wales, Great Britian, on June 23, 1875. Moved with his parents to the United States in May, 1881, and has been a resident of Marion and Monroe counties since that time, except two years spent in the state of Washington. Attended the public schools until eleven years of age, then secured a position in the mines, but continuing his education. At the age of eighteen he sustained an injury from which he has never fully recovered. Entered Central university at Pella, Iowa, from 1894 to 1897, then taught school for several years and read law under the direction of John T. Clarkson of Albia. Was admitted to the bar and began the practice of law at Albia in 1900 which vocation he still follows. Was deputy clerk for about one year. Was married April 27, 1899, to Mary E. Welch. Elected senator in 1916 and 1920. A republican in politics. Serving as Grand Master of Odd Fellows of Iowa for fiscal year 1920-1921.
