Jeanenne Diane Moorhead, 67, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at UNMC in Omaha, Neb.
She was born on July 4, 1958, to Leland Harold and Barbara Kay (Gifford) Bray in Santa Ana, Calif. At the age of two she moved to Sloan, Iowa, and was raised by her grandparents, Howard and Ruby Bray. She graduated in 1976 from Westwood High School in Sloan. Jeannie married Gary Schmidt in 1976. The couple were blessed with three children, Jesse, Danny and Katie. Jeannie later married David Moorhead on July 30, 2010, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple farmed near Moorhead, Iowa.
Jeannie was a member of the Christian Church in Moorhead. She was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Sloan. Jeannie was known for her "kind soul". She had a gentle nature and was full of compassion and generosity. She truly cherished her time spent with family and had the ability to make all others laugh and feel loved. She truly loved life and spread joy to all those around her.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her father and mother; grandparents; husband, Dave Moorhead, on August 26, 2011; son, Danny Schmidt, on August 16, 2013; sisters, Kim Bray, Vikki Kaufhold and Julie Holland; and mother-in-law, Darline Moorhead. She is survived by her two children, Jesse Schmidt and his wife, Allison of Omaha, and Katie Rhymer of Whiting, Iowa; grandchildren, Brayden Rhymer, Joelle McKamy, Greg McKamy and Ava McKamy; brother, Dennis Bray and his wife, Debby of Florida; brothers-in-law, Gerry Kaufhold of Kearney, Arizona and Paul Moorhead and his wife, Cyndi of Moorhead; nephews and nieces, Jonathan, Tayler, Courtney, Dylan and Michelle; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, July 28, 2025, at First Christian Church in Moorhead.
Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
