20 March 2025Susan Alice (Ahlers) Krueger, 76, of Danbury, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2025, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Mapleton, Iowa, with Reverend Nathan Peitsch and Vicar John Stacy, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Susan’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier Township-Charter Oak, Iowa. A visitation will be 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2025, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Susan Alice was born June 28, 1948, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Odilo and Esther (Klein) Ahlers. She grew up by Granville, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1966 from Lawton Bronson High School.
Susan and Kenneth Krueger were united in marriage on May 11, 1973, in Sioux City, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Kendra, Bill, and Kyle. She was actively involved in 4-H, girl scouts, and boy scouts with her children. The couple had a cabinet business together.
Susan worked at Campbells Soup Company, Fremont, Nebraska, and IBP, Dakota City, Nebraska. She cooked many years at Winna Vegas Casino, Sloan, Iowa, and Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, Iowa. Susan had her own catering business and baked and decorated many cakes.
She went antiquing with her sisters and collected many antiques and dolls. Susan enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching game shows, her favorite was Wheel of Fortune. She loved making quilts for loved ones. Susan enjoyed spending quality time and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Mapleton, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Krueger of Danbury, Iowa; children, Kendra Gilliam of Troup, Texas, Bill (Jill) Krueger of Sloan, Iowa, and Kyle (Amanda) Krueger, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Pamela (Phillip), Makayla (Burnail), Machelle, Malik, Lauren, Maryssa, Matthew, Hannah, and Emmett; great-grandchildren, Donail, Elias, Kehlani, Paisley, and Kennyla; sisters, Mary Ann (Joe) Roth, Franny Hennings, Gloria Martin, and Karla (Mike) McClennen; brothers, Lee (Gerri) Ahlers, Russell (Marlene) Ahlers, Roy (Gayle) Ahlers, Mark (Deb) Ahlers, Paul Ahlers, and Jeff (Dee) Ahlers; brothers-in-law, Arthur Krueger, and Robert (Nancy) Krueger; sister-in-law, LuAnn Mesenbrink; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odilo and Esther (Klein) Ahlers; son-in-law, Antonio Gilliam; brothers, Roger Ahlers, and Luke Ahlers; parents-in-law, Art (Louise) Krueger; brothers-in-law, Larry Mesenbrink, and Alan Martin; and sister-in-law, Darla Krueger.
The family would like to thank MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa, Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa, Danbury Ambulance, Danbury, Iowa, St. Croix Hospice, Denison, Iowa, and Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments,
