23 April 2025Kelly Jo Westergaard, 45, of Sloan, Iowa passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at Accura Healthcare of Onawa, Iowa.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa with Pastor Craig Bock, officiating. A recording of the service will be available later on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Kelly’s obituary. The burial will be held in the Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Kelly Jo was born January 7, 1980 in Sioux City, Iowa, and shortly after that was adopted by Lee and Vickie (Morris) Westergaard. She brought a lot of joy and happiness to their home. Kelly grew up in Sloan and graduated from Westwood High School with the class of 1999. During her high school years, she enjoyed vocal music. Kelly worked at a nursing home in Sioux City.
Kelly was Lee’s first fishing buddy and the stop at the Hornick gas station to get pop and a candy bar was always the highlight of the trip. She enjoyed holidays and was very good at providing special gifts for her nieces on their birthdays and Christmas. Kelly was a great caregiver for her mom. She made meals, helped Vickie get in and out of her chair and assisted her mom with whatever she needed. Kelly was always ˝ hour early before the time Lee said he needed her and was willing to stay late if needed. Kelly loved playing cards and getting together with the family. Kelly’s dog was her pride and joy.
She was a member of the Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa.
Survivors include her parents, Lee and Vickie (Morris) Westergaard of Sloan, Iowa; grandmother, Lois (Sorenson) Morris of Hornick, Iowa; siblings, Kari Stewart of Sloan, Iowa, David (Nicole) Westergaard of Marion, Iowa, and Douglas Westergaard of Sloan, Iowa; nieces, Karissa Stewart, Destiney Stewart, Sadie Stewart, Daitin Westergaard, and Palmer Westergaard; great nephew, Cohen Mahler; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Augie and Carolyn (Reese) Westergaard; grandfather, Robert Morris, Jr.; and several other relatives.
