Marjorie Mae Bueoy, age 99, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on November 5, 2024, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with visitation held prior from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Curt Copple will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Center Cemetery of Castana, Iowa.

The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Marjorie Mae Bueoy, the daughter of Adolph Alfred and Blanche Mary Ellen (Lee) Means, was born on May 8, 1925, in rural Castana, IA. A lifelong resident of Mapleton, IA, Marjorie was baptized and confirmed in her faith at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton. She received her education in the Maple Valley School District and graduated with the class of 1943.

After graduation, Marjorie worked at the local creamery, where she was reunited with a past classmate Lawrence E. Bueoy. On March 24, 1949, Marjorie married Lawrence in the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton. The couple made their home in rural Mapleton and welcomed their daughter Pamela.

Marjorie worked at the local IGA for 17 years as a baker in the bakery and a deli assistant before retiring. She was a devoted and faithful lifetime member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women. Marjorie was active in the local American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 496, Royal Neighbors of America Camp #2993, where she served as recorder for 20 years and state recorder for 4 years. She was also part of many card clubs and Odd Fellows Rebekah Lodge. Marjorie enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and making crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph Alfred and Blanche Mary Ellen (Lee) Means; husband Lawrence Bueoy; brother Merlin Means; and extended family.

Marjorie leaves behind her beloved daughter Pamela Bueoy and extended family and friends.
