Terry Lee Deen, 68, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa, with Pastor Jed Shermer, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Terry’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Hite Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa, with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the Emery Johnson American Legion Post #481 of Whiting, Iowa. A visitation will be 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Terry Lee Deen was born July 13, 1956, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Billy and Marjorie (Junkermeier) Deen. He was raised on a farm near Whiting, and he graduated from Whiting High School with the class of 1975. After High School, Terry served in the United States Army National Guard from 1977 to 1982.

Terry and Jean Grimes were united into marriage.

He had a passion for farming and trucking over the years. Terry drove truck for Al Harding, Lyle Harding Trucking for thirteen years, and Ansco Seed Company. He also fueled planes at the Sioux City Airport for a couple of years. He helped farm with Leonard “Toad” Fegenbush, Martin Bielenberg, Darrell Kratz for four years, Brad Simpson, and for Brian Croker for twenty plus years, until he was diagnosed with cancer.

Terry enjoyed fishing and shooting guns. He was proud of his thirty-one years of sobriety. Terry was a member of the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa.

Survivors include his parents, Billy and Marcena Deen of Whiting, Iowa; brothers, Rick (Lynne) Deen of Whiting, Iowa, David (Charlene) Deen of Onawa, Iowa, and Jerry (Kelly) Deen of Dewey, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Merrie Deen of Whiting, Iowa; special friend, Kathy Flohr of Sioux City, Iowa; Kathy’s children, Michael Zinns of Sioux City, Iowa, Israel Zinns of Canton, South Dakota, and Mary Zinns of Sioux City, Iowa; Terry and Jean’s two children, Brandon and Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie (Junkermeier) Deen; brother, Timothy Deen; paternal grandparents, Darrel Sr. and Opal Deen; and maternal grandparents, Emil and Irene Wahlstrom.
