28 August 2024David “Dave” W. Kendall, 69, of Hornick, Iowa passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Hornick United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Dave’s obituary. A luncheon will follow at the church. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Hornick United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be held 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Chances R Bar, Hornick, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
David Wayne was born June 19, 1955 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Robert “Bob” and Della “Darlene” (Schmidt) Kendall. He graduated with the class of 1973 from Westwood High School, Sloan, Iowa. Dave and Pam Weber were united into marriage on December 26, 1988 in Hornick, where they proudly raised two daughters, Jennifer and Katelyn. The couple later divorced.
Dave worked at various jobs in agriculture including Pioneer in Cherokee, Western Iowa Cooperative in Hornick, and various local farmers. He also worked for the city of Hornick in the maintenance department.
Dave enjoyed playing cards and pool with friends, target shooting with the grandchildren, and loved visiting with everyone. He was a past Fire Chief of the Hornick Fire Department, past member of the Hornick City Council, and a member of the Hornick United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Jennifer (Justin) Prichard of Hornick, Iowa and Katelyn (Brian) Gibson of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Jaxon, Jarett, Jaycie, Alex, Suni, and Harper; sister, Debra (Bruce) Sturges of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Delane “Frank” (Shelley) Weber of Kennewick, Washington; niece, Haley Sturges of Philadelphia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Darlene (Schmidt) Kendall; parents-in-law, Merald “Butch” and Jewell (Galland) Weber; and former spouse, Pam Baker.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude towards Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa, and to St. Croix Hospice, Denison, Iowa.
