Mrs. Florence I. Spurrier, 70, of Danbury, died Thursday, April 19, 1984, in a nursing home in Mapleton after a long illness.

Services were at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele officiated. Burial was in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Spurrier, the former Florence Henry, was born September 22, 1913, to Elmer and Florence (Temple) Henry at Mapleton. She married Charles Rush in 1934. They made their home in Des Moines. He died in 1952. In 1953, she married Laverne Jacobs. They lived in Des Moines. He died in 1954. In 1955, she moved to Brawley, California. She married Robert Spurrier in October 1959, at Brawley. While in California she worked for Henry's Pharmacy. Mr. Spurrier died in 1979. In 1979, she returned to the Mapleton and Danbury community.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Kathy) Salmon of Danbury, and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kendall Sexton, Charles Pete Wolterman, Donald Reitz, Clem Wessling, Jr., Jack Colbert, and Maurice Welte.
