Dennis Roy Coberly 1937 - 2023

Dennis Roy Coberly was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 31, 1937 and passed away peacefully in his home in Rio Communities, New Mexico on September 13, 2023.

A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. Services were held in Belen, New Mexico on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

He was raised on the family farm in Moorhead, Iowa by his parents, Loren and Margaret with his brother, Craig and sister, Susan. He was active in 4-H showing cattle in Kansas City, Chicago, Denver, and Ak-Sar-Ben as well as at many local shows. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1955. He, then, attended Oklahoma State University where he enjoyed continuing his rodeoing (roping), which he had started in high school. He traded cattle, crossing many across the border from Mexico while living in El Paso. Many of his lifelong friends he met while rodeoing and trading cattle.

Dennis became an avid collector of guns, machinery, and art. Some of his art collection was featured in a few galleries across the United States and showcased in the Los Lunas Art Gallery as the largest collection of Southwestern art.

He is survived by his children, Raelyn Calcavecchia , L.C. (Buck) Coberly, Troy Coberly, Spring Sinnott, and Myriah Cailteux; step-children, Christian Sisneros, Shiloh Sisneros, and Patrick Sisneros; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Coberly; sister-in- law, Ann Coberly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Nikie Angelos; parents, Loren and Margaret; and brother, Craig.
