DANBURY, Iowa - Nicholas Meyer, 85, of Danbury, died Friday in the Maple Heights Nursing Home at Mapleton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Sunday at the Walter Funeral Home, the rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. and by the parish at 7:45 p.m.

Mr. Meyer was born Dec. 6, 1899, in Breda.

He married Eleanora Hermsen May 30, 1921, in Maple River. He worked for the Chicago & North Western Railroad. He came to Danbury in 1931. Mrs. Meyer died March 22, 1979. Because of ill health he made his home in the Maple Heights Nursing Home the last four years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and Garry, both of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Elaine) Slavin of Harvard, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Neu of Hartington, Neb., Mrs. Pete (Lucy) Underberg of Kent, Minn., Mrs. Thersa Lampe and Mrs. Mary Kokenge, both of Carroll; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
