John William Comfort (Jack), 72, of Blencoe, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2023 at his residence.

A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, with Jack Gibler officiating. A visitation will be 1:00 -2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Goslar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Jack was born September 14, 1950 in Onawa, IA to John and Joyce (Parks) Comfort. He graduated from West Monona High School in 1969. Excelling in track, he earned a full scholarship to the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he majored in elementary education.

Jack was a hardworking and successful farmer, and in addition drove a school bus for twelve years. His hobbies included collecting cars, guns, and antiques. At one time he earned his pilot’s license. He had a heart for rescuing animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce Comfort, and his brother Richard (Dick) Comfort (Karen) of Omaha, NE.

Survivors include his siblings: Nancy Comfort Anderson (Barry) of Omaha, NE; Gary Comfort (Barbara) of Bemidji, MN; and Mike Comfort (Glenda) of Oklahoma City, OK. Survivors also include an aunt, nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jack’s memory to Siouxland Humane Society, 1015 Tri View Avenue, Sioux City, IA 51103.
