Richard “Spike” William Jahnke, 59, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sioux City, Iowa, with Reverend Russell C. Senstad and Reverend David N. Zirpel, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Richard’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Richard William Jahnke was born September 6, 1963, to Richard and Kay (Pritchett) Jahnke in Denison, Iowa. Richard was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, where he attended Longfellow Elementary School and graduated from East High School with the class of 1980.

He had many different jobs from the bakery to construction in the Sioux City area. Spike enjoyed motorcycles, darts, and pool. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan of both basketball and football.

Survivors include his son, Richard M. Jahnke of Sioux City, Iowa; mother, Kay Jahnke of Sioux City, Iowa; siblings, Thomas Evans of Lincoln, Nebraska, Christine Link of Davenport, Iowa, Traci Evans of Omaha, Nebraska, and Michael (Connie) Jahnke of Sioux City, Iowa; aunt, Dorothy Blanchard of Belle Plaine, Iowa; uncle, Richard Pritchett of Marion, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Carl Jahnke; sister, Lisa Ann Olson; and grandparents; Richard H. and Louise (Spitznagle) Jahnke, and Jess and Catherine (Barlow) Pritchett.
