Roger L. Pattison, 81, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Accura HealthCare in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Father Bruce Lawler will officiate. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Roger Lee Pattison was born on June 8, 1941, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Orien and Bettina (Beard) Pattison. He was raised in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1959. Following school, Roger worked for a local farmer.

On June 8, 1961, Roger and Gloria Jean Kurth were united in marriage in Mapleton, Iowa. They made their home in Denison, Iowa where Roger worked as a meat cutter at Safeway Grocery. Roger then took a position at Klotz Food Market in Mapleton, Iowa.

Using his experience in meat processing, Roger took a sales position with Gus Glaszer in Fort Dodge, Iowa selling on the road. He would later continue route sales with Boyer Meats. Roger saw an opportunity at Dubuque Packing in Le Mars and represented their sales department. The family moved from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa to Le Mars in 1979. He finished his career in sales with P.D.I. (a division of Hy-Vee) in Ankeny, Iowa. Throughout the years, Roger received countless sales and employee awards. He continued to elevate his routes to the top sales positions.

Roger was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish- St. James Church in Le Mars. Anyone that met Roger knew that purple was his favorite color. Virtually everything he owned was purple. He was always ready for a conversation with anyone which usually included several jokes. He enjoyed boating, woodworking and gardening, especially caring for his roses. Roger’s favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys. The only time he wasn’t wearing purple was when he dressed for his favorite sports teams or something patriotic.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 61 years, Gloria Pattison of Le Mars, IA; a son, Todd Pattison of Edgewater, MD; a daughter, Robin Eick and her husband, David of Oelwein, IA; a daughter, Becky Tuttle and her husband, Patrick of Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lahn, Sarah (Brady) Barthole, Andy Pattison, Amy Pattison, Samantha Eick and William Eick; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Lahn, Remington Lahn, Conner Barthole, Hudson Barthole, Zoe Pattison and Beau Pattison; a sister, Sally Gilda and her husband, Dick of Kingman, AZ; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lowell Pattison.

Memorials in Roger’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
