Elaine Jones, 84, passed away March 3, 2022 with her family by her side.

Elaine was born on June 29, 1937 in Mapleton, Iowa to Dutch and Leona Kraft. She graduated as valedictorian of Ute High School in 1956. Elaine was married for 64 years to her high school sweetheart, Jim Jones, after he returned from his service with the US Army.

Elaine had a thirst for knowledge. She was an avid reader and enjoyed good friends, flowers, sewing and baking.

Elaine cherished her family and was proud of her four children, Cindy (Jim) Coughennower, Randy (Melissa) Jones, Roger (Debbie) Jones and Rick (Carol) Jones. She had 10 wonderful grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashley, Mindy, Drew, Josh, Sarah, Mitch, Matt, Collin and Ben and one great grandson, Dean.

She is survived by her immediate family as well as one brother, Terry Kraft; one sister, Sue Andrulis; three sisters-in-law, Isabel Stuewe, Noreen Clayton and Alice Rogerson; two brothers-in-law, Bob Jones and Dan Jones and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Jones; her parents and her brother, Kenny Kraft.

A special thank you to Care Initiatives Hospice along with her caretakers, Myrna, Miata and Lena.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Iles Westover Chapel. A rosary will begin at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Private interment will be held at a later date in Mapleton, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to JDRF Greater Iowa Chapter (Des Moines) or On With Life (Ankeny).
