Charlotte A. Barnes, 83, of Whiting passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Casa De Paz in Sioux City.

Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Charlotte was born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Rolla, Mo., to Robert and Gladys Jones. The family moved to Sioux City in 1944 where she graduated from East High Class of '56. She enjoyed quilting, tending to her flower garden, yard work, and bird watching at the FunnyFarm near Whiting. She retired from Wilson Trail 2003. She was a dedicated member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. On March 29, 1957, Charlotte was united in marriage with Warren "Pete" Barnes in Sioux City. He preceded her in death in 2018.

She is survived by her children Deborah Barnes of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Gregory (Annette) Barnes of Jefferson, S.D.; "brother from another mother" Jon (Tracy) Wych of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several other relatives; and lots of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Pete; stepdad Bruno Carstedt; and brother Thomas Jones.
