Sarah Elizabeth Barcus

Sarah Elizabeth Lawyer was born in Boone, Iowa, June 22, 1862 and passed away at her home in Correctionville, Iowa, March 3rd, 1929 being 66 years, 8 months and 11 days of age.

In 1877 she was united in marriage to Issac McGonigle. To this union were born two children, one son and one daughter, the son having preceded her in death.

She moved to Onawa in 1911 where she resided for 16 years and then moved to Correctionville, la. in 1927 where she has since made her home.

In 1918 she was united in marriage to James Barcus, he preceding her in death six years ago.

She leaves to mourn her departure, one daughter, Mrs. Rena Fenter of Cushing, la., two grandchildren, Viola Laxley and Archie Briggs of Correctionville and four great grandchildren; also one brother, Frey Lawyer of Cedar, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Elliott of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Dora Winney of Oakland, Calif.

She was baptized in the Christian faith when a young woman and after moving to Onawa became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church of this city and died happy in the Lord.

Funeral services were held at the Seventh Day Adventist church here and burial was made in the Onawa cemetery, with Rev. J. H. Hodges, pastor of the Adventist church in Sioux City officiating.
