Mrs. Herbert W. Bails Buried Here Monday

Passed Away At Her Home At Sloan, January 14 After a Long Illness—She Leaves Husband and Two Children

She was born at Smithland, Iowa, July 4, 1900, but was reared and Educated in Onawa—Was the Daughter of Judge and Mrs. J. W. Anderson

Mrs. Elma Irene Bails of Sloan, Iowa, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 14th 1954 after an illness extending over a period of time Elma Anderson was born on July 4th, 1900 at Smithland, Iowa and was reared and educated in Onawa. She attended Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa where she affiliated with Delta Delta Delta sorority and she was graduated from the State University of South Dakota at Vermillion in 1922 wit a degree in Home economics.

She taught school at Egan, S.D., Bronson and Sloan, Iowa and was Home Economist for the Sioux City Gas and Electric Company for several years.

Mrs. Bails was a member of the Congregational Church at Sioux City and was also a member of the order of eastern Star.

Her marriage to Atty Herbert W. Bails took place on New Years Eve in 1926 at Onawa, Iowa, and to this marriage were born two children, John Herbert and Julia Anne, now 13 and 10years of age.

After her marriage she resided in Sioux City until 1951 when the family moved to Sloan, where her husband is engaged in the practice of law.

She is survived by her husband, her son and daughter, her parents former Judge John W. Anderson of Sioux City and Mrs. Burdette Anderson of Onawa, and one sister, Mrs. C. M. Schoeider of Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on January 18t, 1953 at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Sloan with Rev. C. H. Bischoff officiating. Burial was made in the Onawa Cemetery.
