Obituary of Mrs. Helen Carlson

Mrs. Helen Carlson was born near Maple Landing in Monona County, Iowa, on Febrary 1, 1883, and passed from this life in the Onawa Hospital, early Thursday morning October 31, 1957. Death came, following a long illness, at the age of 74 years.

On December 5, 1905, she was united in marriage with Peter Carlson at Turin, Iowa. To this union one daughter was born. Mr. Carlson preceded her in death about 11 years ago.

She was a life long resident of this community. Early in life she accepted the Christ as her savior and was united with the Methodist Church, then meeting in the Jordan Community.

Survivors are her one daughter, Mrs. Edward Hadden of Castana :two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, along with a few other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday,, November 2, in the community church in Castana, with Rev. E.E. Epperson, of Onawa, officiating. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Oliver Kelley. Mrs. Fred Anderson was in charge of the flower arrangements. Casket bearers were Fred Anderson, Edwin Anderson, Howard Robbins, Russell McDonald, Lawerence McDonald and Albin Carson.

Burial was in the Jordan cemetery with funeral arrangements in charge of the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting.
