Onawa Democrat, Nov. 5, 1931,
BLENCOE MOTHER PASSES AWAY, Mary Lillian McKenney, daughter of Steward and Rosella McKenney was born at Independence, Iowa Sept. 15, 1869 and passed away at her home Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1931 at the age of 62 yrs. 1 Mo. 6 days. She was united in marriage to James Arthur Hopkins at Pueblo, Colorado Dec. 30, 1885.

To this union seven children were born, all of whom survive her.

She lived the early part of her married life at Wallace, Nebraska, coming to Iowa in the year 1897 and has since lived in the vicinity of Blencoe where she raised her family and saw many of her hardships of pioneer life. She had a simple, trustful faith. For the past 30 years she has had poor health. Being a patient sufferer, true Christian life.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, James Hopkins, two sons: Earl of Onawa and Arthur of Missouri Valley, five daughters, Emma Martin of Jackson, Nebraska: Alice Hickman of Modale, Maude Henry of Blencoe, Hazel HIme of Ronneby, Minnesota, and Mariam WIckland and Whiting, Iowa. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral service were held at the Congregational Church in Blencoe Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Geo Croken of Whiting, assisted by Rev. Dudley Rural at Onawa,. The Barnard Funeral Home had the Funeral Service.
