9 December 2020David Diemo Gualazzi, Sr., 89, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be held at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with Father Michael Erpelding, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
David was born July 23, 1931 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan the son of Adolph and Rose (Paris) Gualazzi. He graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from January 24, 1952 until his honorable discharge on January 23, 1956.
David and Norma Ann Kellen were united in marriage at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa on April 21, 1955. Eight children were born to this union, Gina, Rose, Brenda, David Jr., Donna, Dean, Debra and Denise. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage before Norma passed away on October 12, 2010.
He worked for the Corps of Engineers for several years and also worked in the medical supply business.
David loved trains and planes. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Gina (Steve) Allen of Onawa, Iowa, Rose O’Neill of Sioux City, Iowa, Brenda (Steve) Simpson of Onawa, Iowa, David, Jr. (Kim) Gualazzi of Onawa, Iowa, Donna (Todd) Messerole of Onawa, Iowa, and Dean (Chris) Gualazzi of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Cari Gualazzi, Sara (Will) Keenan, Grace Allen, Brandon (Tessa) Smith, Dusty (Katie) Smith, Ben (Jazmine) O’Neill, Molly O’Neill, Tony (Leslie) Kriege, Abby (Kyle) Lilly, David III Gualazzi, Austin Gualazzi, Amanda (Tyler) Maynard, Hannah Messerole, Jordan Gualazzi, Joseph Gualazzi, Ava Gualazzi, Lenaya Gualazzi, and Maia Gualazzi; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Rose (Paris) Gualazzi; his wife, Norma Ann Gualazzi; brothers, Nick Gualazzi and Junior Gualazzi; sister, Barbara Gualazzi; and twin daughters, Debra Sue Gualazzi and Denise Dawn Gualazzi.
