12Jan1899 Monona County Gazette We are exceedingly sorry to have to announce the sudden death of one of Onawa's bright girls, Emily Mendham, who was born on a farm in Ashton township November 18, 1881, passed quietly away to the great home beyond at nine o'clock Tuesday morning. We can hardly realize that she has left us never to meet us again on this earth. To know her was to love her and how much she will be missed is only told by the great number of friends she had. She was of a gentle loving disposition, having a kind word for all. The funeral will be held tomorrow at the Congregational church at 2pm.
