Lorraine F. Godsey, 99, recently a resident at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Whiting, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan Iowa with Pastor Richard Moore officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed- Family requests attendees to bring and wear masks.) Burial will follow in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Lorraine Fern Godfredson was born November 23, 1920 at their farm near Sergeant Bluff, Iowa to James and Edith (Christensen) Godfredson. She graduated from Salix High School in 1938. Lorraine attended National Business Training School and worked several years for the ASC office in Sioux City, Iowa.

Lorraine and Maurice Godsey were united into marriage on February 9, 1947. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm southeast of Sloan, Iowa and continued to farm. To this union three children were born: Sharon, Calvin, and Dave.

Lorraine purchased a home in Sloan, Iowa in 1980. She worked as a secretary to the principal of Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa for fifteen years.

She was a member of the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa. Lorraine was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Collins of South Sioux City, Nebraska and son, David (Tracey) Godsey of Sloan, Iowa; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith (Christensen) Godfredson; her husband, Maurice Godsey; her son, Calvin Godsey; brother, Chester (Shirley) Godfredson; two sisters, Wilma (John) Dantzler and Phyllis (Gene) Cook; sister-in-law, Bette (Charles) Antrim; and grandchild, Stephanie Wahls.
