10 June 2020Cathy L. Brown, 72, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at her residence.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, Led By: Jack Gibler. (Social distancing measures must be followed). Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Cathy was born February 13, 1948, the daughter of Page and Lenore (Stanton) Ooten. She grew up in Onawa, Iowa.
Cathy and Charles were united in marriage on August 28, 1965 in Onawa, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Charles and Melissa.
Cathy’s highest achievement was going back to school while taking care of her two children and working full time. She earned her high school equivalency diploma in March of 1982.
Cathy worked for MCI from 1986, the year they opened to the day they closed in 2006. She achieved the highest rep level for sales called Club MCI. She later worked for Crossroads from 2011-2018.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, embroidering, gardening, cross-stitch, and stained glass.
Survivors include her two children, Charles (Tammy) Brown and Melissa A. Brown; five grandchildren, Charles Brown III, Christen and Matt Leitz, Dalton Brown and Amanda Parr, Brad Poole, and Kristi Gotto; eleven great-grandchildren, Charles Brown IV, Madison Gotto, Keara Leitz, Wyatt Leitz, Bronxx Brown, Weston Brown, Walter Brown, Mackenzie Poole, Mackayla Poole, Carter Leitz and Brooklyn Leitz; one brother, Clarence “Butch” and Liz Ooten; and two nephews, Ed (Lee) Holbrook and Peter (Jennifer Dalsen) Ooten.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lynn Brown, her parents, Page and Lenore (Stanton) Ooten; her sister, Janet (Ooten) Holbrook and husband Gary Holbrook; nephew, Tim Holbrook; and a grand son-in-law, Aaron (Chubbs) Gotto.
