Millie L. Burns, 96, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, in Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Private Immediate Family Service will be held with Hospice Chaplain, Dale Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Millie Burns was born June 30, 1923, at Fairfield, Nebraska, daughter of Elmer and Beulah (Farrar) Palmer. She graduated from Mapleton High School in Mapleton, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Elvin E. Burns on September 11, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa, where they lived until moving to Whiting in 1960.

Millie worked at Wincharger, Wellers, and American Equipment in Sioux City, Iowa. She finally retired in the late 1970s.

She and Elvin were blessed with five children: Marcia Burns of Lexington, South Carolina; Monica (the late David) Brundeen of Carr, Colorado; Martin (Lorri) Burns of Springfield, Ohio; Michael (Debra) Burns of Whiting, Iowa; Mark (Jean) Burns of Ida Grove, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa. She enjoyed quilting, working on craft projects, traveling and camping with her husband, and spending time with grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin, on March 26, 2005; parents, Beulah and Elmer Palmer; two sisters, Mae Doris Robbins and Betty Gerrietts, and three brothers, Donald Palmer, Paul Palmer, and Gailord Palmer.
