26 February 2020Richard W. “Dick” Beedle, 77, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Michael Lewis and Pastor Don Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 18, 2020 with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Richard Warren Beedle was born March 17, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa the son of William “Bill” and Lois Merle (Maule) Beedle. He graduated from Onawa High school in 1960. He attended the Norfolk Christian College in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Dick and Jerri Burke were united in marriage on December 29, 1963 in Onawa, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Lori and Craig.
He worked several years for local businesses before entering the service. Dick served during Vietnam in the United States Army. He was inducted on October 5, 1966 and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1968 after receiving the Bronze Star Medal. Following discharge he was the Assistant Monona County Engineer until retiring at the end of 2005.
Dick enjoyed fishing with his friends, gardening, golfing, and playing cards. Dick and Jerri wintered in Arizona for twelve years.
He was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa where he served as past Elder and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Jeraldine “Jerri” Beedle of Onawa, Iowa; daughter, Lori (Steve) Williams of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, Craig (Julene) Beedle of Onawa, Iowa; and grandchildren, Ryleigh Beedle, Melissa Williams, and Matthew Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois (Maule) Beedle; and one grandson, Austin Williams.
