Lois Elaine Riley, 79, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 8, 2019, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with Reverend Jena Finch-Manchester officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Lois Elaine was born on September 26, 1940, in Battle Creek, Iowa, to Herbert Henry and Lorraine (Baeth) Christensen. She attended Maple Valley High School in Mapleton, Iowa.

She married Michael Riley on February 14, 1991, in Yukon, Oklahoma.

She worked for various local businesses over the years, including the Mapleton Vet Clinic in Mapleton, Metz Baking Co. in Sioux City, Riley Trucking in Mapleton, the Mapleton IGA in Mapleton, the Belle of Sioux City Casino in Sioux City, Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Bomgaars in Mapleton, the Maple Motel in Mapleton, and Dollar General in Mapleton.

Lois enjoyed watching local stock car races, especially the late models, with her husband Michael. She especially enjoyed watching her son David race. She also loved spending time with her family and riding along with Michael on his trucking route.

She was affiliated with St. John’s United Methodist Church in Mapleton.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Riley of Mapleton, IA; three children and their spouses, Bonnie (Galen) Bollig of Smithland, IA, Brian (Nancy) Dean of Quimby, IA, and Barry (Angie) Dean of Edgerton, WI; daughter-in-law, Brenda Beacom of North Sioux City, SD; grandchildren, Amanda, Tasha, Trent, Tyler, Chance, Bryce, Sabrina, Jacob, Jared, Josh, Josie, Christina, Caleb, Bethany, and Anna; great-grandchildren, Ahri, Elijah, Jonah, Henry, Dominique, Raymond, Kiya, Skylar, Kallie, Kayden, Serenity, Mahala, Nikolia, Benjamin, and two great-granddaughters on the way; and one brother, Kenneth Christensen of Dow City, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Henry and Lorraine Christensen; parents-in-law, Morris and Judy Riley; one son, David Riley; brother, Dean Christensen; and sister-in-law, Judy Christensen.
