Elaine Marie Carlson, 85, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Elaine Marie was born on January 26, 1935 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Thompson and Edith (Cole) Conyers. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School in 1953.

Elaine and Wayne Carlson were united in marriage on August 14, 1954 in Onawa, Iowa.

She worked at the Monona County Clerk of Court office as a secretary for 9 years. She also worked as secretary for the city of Onawa for 16 years.

Elaine enjoyed quilting and genealogy. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was also a member of the (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution. Elaine loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Carlson; children, Randy Lee (Glenette) Carlson of Oklahoma, James “Mike” (Michele) Carlson of Jackson, NE, Janelle Marie Carlson of Omaha, NE, and Glenda Carlson of Whiting, IA; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; half sisters and brothers, Terry (Maureen) Thompson of Clive, IA, Bill (Carol) Thompson of Johnston, IA, Marsha Neldeberg of Colorado, Virginia Mathison of Turin, IA, and Jo Ann Lintin of Onawa, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Edith; daughter, Cynthia Rae Cox; son, Douglas Wayne Carlson; granddaughter, Mindi Rae Carlson; sister, Glenda Mae Thompson; great-grandson, Oliver Carlson; and half sister, Sherry Thompson.
