30 October 2019Bonnie S. LaBrune, 70, of Smithland, Iowa passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side.
A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Hospice Chaplain Dale Wolf, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Bonnie Sue was born February 26, 1949 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Lowell Edward and Norma Bernice (Wagner) Jenkins. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City where she received her BA in Social Work.
Bonnie and Lawrence “Larry” LaBrune were united in marriage on October 7, 1978 in Sloan, Iowa.
Bonnie worked as a social worker and counselor for many years at various places, helping many people along the way. She loved her role in helping people overcome and bettering their life.
She loved being a house wife and raising their son, Anthony. She also loved to garden and spend time outdoors. She and Larry enjoyed traveling to many places together.
Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Larry LaBrune of Smithland, Iowa; son, Anthony (Dina) LaBrune of Newburgh, New York; sister, Becky (Terry) Pierce of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephews, Joseph (Katie) Hesiterkamp and Bill Heisterkamp; niece, Kristine (David) Meiske; cousins, Dwight (Helen) Jenkins, Mary McCoy, Barb (Russell) Kepner, and the Glenn Jenkins Family; mother-in-law, Marion LaBrune; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Robert) Chebuhar, Susan (Byron) Sexton; brother-in-law, Michael (Kathy) LaBrune; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Norma Jenkins; two brothers, James Jenkins and Jerry Jenkins.
