Obituary in the Onawa newspaper:

Jacob Butcher, an old citizen of this county died at his home in Onawa, Thursday, February 2, 1899, at the age of 84 years. He had been in feeble health for six years with a lung trouble which resulted in death. The funeral was held from the family residence on Saturday, conducted by Rev. Marshall and the remains interred in the Onawa cemetery.
