Obituary from the Onawa Democrat January 24, 1918:
MRS. PHEOBE O'CONNOR LAID TO REST.

Funeral Services were conducted from the home on Tuesday by Rev. Moore. She was an Old and Highly Respected Citizen of This Community, Having Resided Here for a Great Many Years.

Mrs. Pheobe Amidon O'Connor was born in Hartsville, New York, Aug. 12, 1841, and died at her home in Onawa, Iowa, January 18, 1918, at the mature age of 76 years, 5 months and 4 days.

On the 30th of January, 1859 she was married to John O'Connor. To this union were born five children, two of whom (Mrs. Della Hurst of Pasadena, Cal., and Miss Cinda O'Connor) are living and both were present mourning the loss of a beloved mother. Mrs. O'Connor has resided in Onawa nearly fifty years. She has been an invalid for more than the past three years and was patiently and tenderly cared for by her daughter, Cinda, until her entering into the great beyond, where she was preceded by her husband fifteen years ago.

Mrs. O'Connor has been a member of the Onawa Christian church for over twenty years and died in the Faith of her God. The funeral services were conducted from her home at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, C. R. Moore of the Christian church officiating, and the interment was made in the family lot in the Onawa cemetery beside her husband.

"Thoughtlessly we lightly speak of death, Til it robs our home and we are left. When its realty wounds our heart And we see our loved ones from us part. Then we cry out with pain, And reason returns to us again; Tis then we remember tender Words of our Christ: "I am the resurrection and life."
