Mrs. Ida Hawkins, wife of Frank Hawkins residing west of Onawa, died Monday evening at her home of tuberculosis. While her sickness had been looked upon with fear for sometime none supposed the end was so near. She was in Onawa consulting her physician the latter part of the last week and remained hopeful and cheerful till the last.

Her death is a sad blow to the husband and family of eight children as none cherished a mothers love more than this family. She was widely known in this community, and the kindliest of words are spoken for her generous nature and kindly disposition to all at all times.

She was daugher of Frank O'Connor, of the city and was born in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk county, Iowa, April 12, 1863. She came here with her parents and November 18, 1878 was united in marriage to the surviving husband.

Nine children were born to them, one of whom died at the age of two years. Those who with the husband and father surviving to mourn the loss of mother are Bert, John, Rose, Kate, Dean, Seth, George and Doris, all of whom were present at the funeral.

The funeral service was held at the home Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. F. Leake, pastor of the Onawa Christian Church.
