Margie E. Willson passed away on May 13, 2004, in Battle Creek at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 20 days.

The funereal services was held on Monday, May 17, 2004, at Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton. Pastor Fred Pilecki officiated the service. The message in music was led by Connie Bridgeman on the organ.

Pallbearers were Charles McCall, Henry McCall, Travis Vogt, Walter Morgan, Merrill Zobel, and Mark Vogt. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton.

Margie Evelyn Willson was born on October 23, 1922, in rural Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Wealthy Alma (Zortman) Cooke. She grew up in the Smithland area and graduated from Smithland High School in 1940 after the family moved into town. On September 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Walter Thomas Willson at Ponca, Nebraska. They lived in the Soldier, Mapleton, Ida Grove, Climbing Hill and Castana, Iowa, areas until moving to Holstein in the 1980s. Walter died on May 24, 2003.

Margie liked to work on puzzles, embroider, collect coins and stamps and play bingo. As a child, she helped her mother make quilts and later brought this talent home by quilting for her family.

Survivors left to cherish Margie’s memory include four sons and their wives, Tom and Tootie Willson of Danbury, Iowa, Raymond and Norma Willson of Denison Iowa, Richard and Pat Willson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mike and Sharon Willson of Holstein, Iowa; one daughter, Janice Zobel of Holstein, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one brother and his wife, Ronald and Marilyn Cooke of Maquoketa, Iowa along with other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Along with her husband, Margie is preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Shaun and Scotty; two sisters and three brothers.
