Onawa, Iowa—June Rose Ooten, 54, of McAlester, Oklahoma, formerly of Moorhead and Onawa, Iowa, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald Ludwig officiating. Bishop Funeral Service in McAlester, Oklahoma is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ooten was born June 16, 1942, in Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Leisinger) Archer. She graduated from Onawa High School and received her degree from Southeastern state University.

She married William H. “Bill” Ooten on September 2, 1962 in Onawa. The couple lived in Okinawa, Las Vegas, Nevada, Washington, Alaska, San Francisco, Florida and Mary Ann of Clarksville, Tennessee and Michael and Teresa of Edmond, Oklahoma, her parents of Onawa, four sisters and their husbands, Hope and Earl Thelander and Carol and Fred Otto all of Onawa, Gail and Dan VanWinkle of Sioux City and Beverly and David Anderson of Blencoe, Iowa, a brother and his wife, Rick and Cheryl Archer of Onawa and two grandchildren, Savannah and Johnsuthan Ooten.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bird and Ellen Archer and her maternal grandparents, Lewis and Grace Leisinger.
