Evalena Sena (Mann) Carson was born October 25, 1925, to Frank Charles and Maggie Day (Mathison) Mann near Moorhead, Iowa. Ev attended country school in Monona County. Her father died when she was 16 so she stayed at home to help her mother. Ev married Wilbur Carson on December 19, 1945, in Pisgah. The couple farmed east of Pisgah and then west of Pisgah. In 1979 the couple moved into town. Ev worked at the Old Home Cafe for over 13 years. The couple moved into the senior housing in Pisgah in 1994.

Ev was a member of the Community of Christ and an avid member with the ladies’ aid since 1956. She helped with the various activities at church, and she was a member of the Help One Another Club. She enjoyed flowers, her family and loved to sit and listen to others. Ev and Wilbur were devoted to one another and to their family. She was a wonderful caregiver to Wilbur.

Ev died Sunday, July 19,2009, at her home in Pisgah, Iowa attaining the age of 83 years, eight months and 24 days.

Ev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur on October 5, 2006; granddaughter, Mary; son-in-law, Paul Mann; two sisters, Zeona Lucy Mann and Frankie (Roy) Bellis; brother, Cleo (Beryle) Mann and sister-in-law Delia Mann.

She is survived by her four children, Larry Carson and special friend Darla Ronk of Omaha, Nebraska, Lola Mann of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike Carson and his wife Vicki of Pisgah, Iowa, Mary Carson of Logan, Iowa; six grand-children; eight great grandchildren; brother, Virgil Mann of Onawa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dorlene Carson of Nashville, Tennessee; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service was held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 10:30 am at the Community of Christ in Pisgah, Iowa. Clergy was Evangelist John Lizer. Musicians were Myrna Glennie and Norma Jensen. Selections were "The Old Rugged Cross", "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".

Honorary Pall Bearers were Carey Kuhl, Kelley Carson, Melanie Mann, Stephanie McConney, Ashley Carson, Bailey Kuhl, Brooklyn Carson and Madeline McConney.

Pall Bearers were Brian Carson, Darin Carson, Kevin Kuhl, Michael McConney, Drew Leonard, Dustin Carson, Drake Carson and Jackson Kuhl. Final Resting place was at Soldier Valley Cemetery in Pisgah, Iowa. Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine was in charge of the arrangements, www. foutsfuneralhome.com
