Ruth Jane Fletcher, 74, Onawa, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ruth Jane was born March 8, 1935 at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Alma (Hansen) Rowland. She was raised in the Onawa area and graduated from Onawa High School in 1952.

Raymond "Flea" Fletcher and Ruth were united in marriage October 10, 1953. They made their home in Onawa where they raised their children. Ruth loved life and being with her many friends and family; whether it was playing cards, telephone conversations, family gatherings or just enjoying each day. Throughout her life, she worked at various locations in the area and there too enjoyed the many friendships and contacts she made.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond "Flea" Fletcher of Onawa; her children, Chris Hogan, Kathy and her husband Ray Summerfield and Roger Fletcher all of Onawa; five grandchildren, Theresa Freemont of Little Sioux, IA, Matthew Shane Rustin (Stephanie) of New Ulm, MN, Melia (Jon) Cooper of Omaha and Michael, Kirk, Erica and Lucas Fletcher of Aurora, CO; many great grand grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis and her husband Dewayne Mesenbrink of Onawa; two brothers, Richard and his wife Bev Rowland of Sterling, CO and Robert Rowland of Glenwood Springs, CO; a brother-in-law, Wayne Burgess of Onawa; many special nieces and nephews and a close friend, Jodi Kellogg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Tom Hogan and 9 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service was 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Music selections were "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. There was no visitation.
