Gertrude Emma Marie Eneboe was born May 11, 1919, in Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Sara Meseck. She passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at CHI Health in Missouri Valley, Iowa, at the age of ninety-nine.

Gertrude was baptized in Christ June 1, 1919, and confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on April 9, 1933, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. She received her education in the rural school near her home.

On May 25, 1958, Gertrude was united in marriage to Robert Eneboe also at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and then began her life as a wife and homemaker. Although never having children of her own, she enjoyed babysitting for others for a number of years including not only for family but for professors’ children when her husband worked for Purdue University.

Her faith was very important to her as she read her Bible and marked all of her favorite passages.

She remained faithful to her Lord and Savior throughout her life and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa. She was a most wonderful person, good to others, although she could be forthright at times and not afraid to say her mind. Her sister, Evelyn, meant the world to her and Gertrude was known for her stories of her life and she will be remembered for her bread baking and apple cake.

Gertrude enjoyed reading and listening to the Polka Party and other radio programs including The Trading Post. She also found great pleasure in gardening, both vegetable and flowers, and loved animals, especially cats.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; three sisters, twins Lorena and Leona, and Evelyn and her husband, Merle; three brothers, Melvin in infancy, and Rudolph and Arthur; and one nephew, Ricky.

Survivors include: two nephews, Randy and his wife, Pat, and Rodney and his wife, Charlotte; one niece, Susan; seven great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; other relatives and friends.
