Services held for former Mapleton resident

Raymond Paul LeFebvre, son of Walter Ismal LeFebvre and Ella Mae Leitzen LeFebvre was born October 9, 1930 in Mapleton, Iowa and departed this life on October 6, 2002 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 71 years.

Services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 11 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Osceola with Father Lyle Peters officiating. Ray was cremated and burial of his cremated remains were at Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola, Iowa, immediately following Mass. Visitation was Thursday at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, with a vigil wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Ray received his education in the Mapleton Iowa schools. Ray then served his country as a Company Clerk in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Following his time in the service he was united in marriage on December 28, 1954 to Gloria Colleen Morgan in Mapleton, Iowa. Four children blessed this union, Karla, Kary, Kelly and Kurt.

Ray and Gloria lived in Mapleton and Correctionville for short periods of time before moving to Cherokee for two years. They lived in Charles City for eleven years and moved to Ottumwa for four years. They then moved on to Carroll, Iowa for seven years. In 1991, Ray retired from Fareway Grocery Stores and they moved to Osceola to make their home.

Ray was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Osceola, Iowa; the Knights of Columbus in Osceola and Herndon-Oehlert American Legion Post #157 in Woodburn, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Gloria in 2001; grandson Brandon Ray Phillips in 1978 and grandson Eric Jason Phillips in 2001.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: daughter, Karla Bassett and husband, Rod of Osceola, Iowa; son, Kary LeFebvre and wife Karen of Cresco, Iowa; son, Kelly LeFebvre of Osceola, Iowa, son, Kurt LeFebvre and wife, Mary of Grimes, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Jerad Phillips of Iowa City, Iowa; Kayla, Kameron and Kolby LeFebvre of Cresco, Iowa; Morgan and Taylor LeFebvre of Grimes, Iowa and Kristen LeFebvre of Des Moines, Iowa; father-in-law, Arthur Morgan of Osceola, Iowa, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Ray's name.
