15 December 2005Paul Eugene Kreisel, 78, Carter Lake, Iowa died of pneumonia Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Paul Eugene Kreisel was born January 18, 1927 at Silver City, Iowa, the son of Fred and Catherine (Moore) Kreisel. He married Donna Maxwell April 19, 1951 in Onawa, Iowa. They farmed in the Blencoe, Iowa area. In 1983, they moved to Carter Lake, Iowa to be closer to his work.
Paul was a hard worker and was able to work many different types of work. He also was a talented craftsman and will long be remembers for his woodcarvings and his scroll saw creations. Some of his work was sent to Germany and Saudi Arabia and all across the United States. His favorite time of year was between Thanksgiving and Christmas when he would carry his star/snowflakes in his pocket and give to others to enjoy. He was also an avid racecar fan, driving and working in the pits in his younger years to faith-, fully watching NASCAR every week on TV.
Paul was a member of Stevens Kelly American Legion Post #665.
Survivors include his wife of 54'/2 years, Donna of Carter Lake; Candis (Kreisel) Brewster and her husband Cliff of Missouri Valley, IA, Jolene Miller and Al Hamblen of Onawa and Paul “Gene”
Kreisel, Jr. and his wife, Molly of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren, Chris (Stacy) Miller of Blencoe, Michael (Lisa) Christensen, Jr. of Onawa, Jennifer (Dennis) Collison of Onawa and Melony (Tony) Stillman of Fremont, NE; three great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.Funeral services were held at 2.00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Rush Family Chapel with Rev. Dennis Olsen, officiating. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by, Stevens Kelley American Legion Post #665. Visitation was Thursday noon until service time.
